What is MSME / Udyam registration?
MSME stands for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Udyam Registration is the online system through which the Government of India registers such enterprises. A completed registration results in an Udyam Registration Number and a certificate.
Enterprises are classified as micro, small or medium according to investment and turnover limits set by the government. These limits have been revised over time, so please check the official Udyam portal for the current criteria.
Who can register?
Udyam registration is meant for enterprises engaged in manufacturing or in providing services, and for other activities allowed on the portal. It is used by proprietorships, partnership firms, LLPs, companies, Hindu Undivided Families and other business forms, subject to the rules on the official portal.

Benefits of registration
Registration gives your enterprise a government-recognised identity. Depending on scheme rules, registered enterprises may be considered for support offered by government departments and financial institutions from time to time, for example under priority sector lending norms or certain government schemes.
Each scheme has its own conditions. Registration by itself does not guarantee a loan, a subsidy or any other benefit.
Required information and documents

Aadhaar of the applicant
The Aadhaar number of the proprietor, managing partner or authorised signatory, linked to a mobile number that can receive an OTP.
PAN and GSTIN
The PAN of the enterprise or proprietor, and the GSTIN where GST registration applies to your business.
Enterprise details
The name of the enterprise, type of organisation, address and the date it began business.
Activity and NIC codes
Whether the enterprise is in manufacturing or services, and the NIC code or codes that describe the activity.
Investment and turnover
The figures used to classify the enterprise as micro, small or medium.
Bank details
The bank account number and IFSC code.
